Information can be stored, linked, and managed using a single relational database application and its associated tools. In this course, you will be introduced to the concept of the relational database by using the Microsoft® Office Access 2003 relational database application and its information management tools.

Target Student: This course is designed for students who wish to learn the basic operations of the Access 2003 database program to perform their day-to-day responsibilities, and to understand the advantages that using a relational database program can bring to their business processes. The Level 1 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include working with tables to create and maintain records, locate records, and produce reports based on the information in the database. Excel Level1As you begin this course, you should have the basic skills you need to work with a Microsoft® Office Access 2003 databases. This includes working with Access tables, relationships, queries, forms, and reports. But thus far you have been focusing on essential database user skills only. In this course you will consider how to design and create a new Access database, how to customize database components, and how to share Access data with other applications.
 

Course Objective: You will design and create a new Access database; improve queries, forms, and reports; and integrate Microsoft® Office Access 2003 with other applications.

Target Student: Microsoft® Access 2003: Level 2 is designed for the student who wishes to learn intermediate-level operations of the Microsoft® Access program. The Level 2 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include creating new databases, tables, and relationships, as well as working with and revising intermediate-level queries, forms, and reports. It also introduces the student to integrating Access data with other applications such as Microsoft® Word or Excel. Course Objective: You will create complex Access databases using forms, reports, and macros.

Target Student: This course is designed for the student who wishes to learn intermediate and advanced operations of the Microsoft® Office Access 2003 database program. The Level 3 course is for the individual whose job responsibilities include working with heavily related tables; creating advanced queries, forms, and reports; writing macros to automate common tasks; and performing general database maintenance. It is also designed as one in a series of courses for students pursuing the Microsoft® Office Specialist Certification for Microsoft® Office Access 2003, and it is a prerequisite to taking more advanced courses in Microsoft® Office Access 2003.

Access Level1 Learn the basic skills necessary to begin using Access 2000. They will design and create databases, tables, queries, forms, and reports.

Pre-requisites
Students enrolling in this course should understand the basic concepts involved in working with a personal computer (PC). For example, students should be familiar with terms such as computer memory, data files, and program files. Students should also be familiar with the components that make up the PC, including input, output, and storage devices. Students should also be fairly comfortable working in a Windows environment. No prior knowledge of databases or Access is assumed.

Performance-based objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Delivery Method = Tutor Led

Access Level2 - 28 July Students will learn how to enhance their database designs by using the principles of normalization and table relationships. Students also learn how to query multiple tables for data that is used in customized forms and reports. Additionally, students learn how to create data access pages to share data over an intranet or the Internet.

Prerequisites:
Students are required to have a basic understanding of Access 2000 equivalent to the Level 1 course.

Benefits:
Students will learn how to take the guesswork out of creating databases by using data-normalization techniques. They will learn how to take advantage of relational database efficiency to maintain data. In addition, students will be able to save time by controlling data entry and automating tasks.
